-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
-------------------- OBLIDOX -------------------
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Version: 1.0
Date : 2/9/92
Game Idea:
----------
First things first, anyone with a memory which stems back to 1986 might
be able to recall a certain £1.99 game called Oblido (notice the subtle
name change) from Mastertronic. Surprise, surprise, my game is based
upon this (in fact its almost identical!). Incidentally, the guys that
wrote the original were Probe Software. Bigger things or what?
Instructions:
-------------
The idea of the game is to move the counters around the maze into their
respective coloured base. This is not quite as simple as it sounds.
Aliens fly around the maze trying to prevent you. Collision with an alien
costs time. But don't worry - you're not defenceless, you've got the
supa-dupa-mega powerful lazer striker (tm) to blast the aliens into the
middle of next week. But then, so do one type of alien so watch out!
You can kill the aliens by one of three methods:
<1> Squash them with a counter
<2> Zap them with your lazer
<3> Run into them. (Not the advised method!)
And that's it. Simple, eh?
Registration:
-------------
Yes, it's the begging bit.
If you would like to register, In return for £5 (uk) I will promptly return:
The latest version of this game.
The AMOS source code.
The relevant Samples / Music etc.
Detailed description of how the game was written.
The next game/utility that I write FREE!
My address, if you're interested (or even if you're not) is:

Thank-You.
Game Bugs: (ahem!)
----------
These will be rectified (he says confidently!)
<1> Sometimes you can walk through an alien. This is due to a design
flaw on my behalf which was only realised after it was completed.
It happens rarely; you might not even see it, but if you do, treat it as
a lucky break!
<2> Note to NTSC users (if any!). Turn off the music! It runs too slow due
to the 60hz thing.
If you find any more, please drop me a line.
Future Games:
-------------
Oblidox II (maybe). This will be a similar type but there will be
pictures instead of blocks. So you have to complete the picture which will
be much harder.
Squirm. (A classic C16 game. Another Mastertronic!)
Any you suggest.
Software Used:
--------------
Amos Mandarin
Amos Compiler Mandarin
Deluxe Paint III Electronic Arts
Stereo Master MicroDeal
IconMaster John Scheib
Dedication:
-----------
This game is dedicated to Janice. (Ahhh..!)
Thanx:
------
Here's the usual drivle about the people I wish to thank:
Probe Software for the original Commodore 16 classic. (Still got my C16!)
Mr. X for the in-game tune. Its called Total Recoil if you're interested.
Two tunes from Tobias Richter's Cubulous. (I've assumed that its freeware
so I borrowed the music as it fitted into the game well. If I've assumed
wrong please tell me and I'll remove them pronto.)
Thanx to Paul 'Tomo' Thomas for play testing and level design.
(tedium - whats that?)
17 Bit Software for their Sample Disk #885
Praga Khan & Danse City for their influence in the making of this game.
Absolutely no thanx whatsoever go to Ste Johnstone 'cause he kept ringing
me up to go out while I was trying to write this!!
Mr and Mrs Roberts for putting up with me for two weeks. (Steve, I thought
you said I was getting a cake with 19 candles on it while I stayed there!!)
Greetz:
-------
Greets to Tomo. Happy 19th old man!
Greets to Ste 'PJ' Johnstone. School Girls fantasy! (or the other way around!)
Greets to Ste Wynne for being philisophical. (And getting me a job for summer)
Greets to Pete Hewstone for his quote about Charlotte and her BJ's.
Greets to Phil Ball for being a Psycho. (How's Caroline...?)
Greets & Congrats to Martyn for becoming a Father. (The joke about the lead
in his pencil has finally been silenced.....)
Big Shouts to my Uni chums: Steve 'Go On Stoke!' Roberts, Neil 'BossMan' White
Neil 'Wookie' Hawley, Scott 'On the Cricket Square' Greenwood, Tom 'Scrumpy
Jack' Martin, Howard 'Come on Bazza!' Thornley, Dave 'Terry Butcher' Jeffries,
Lucy 'Nob' Slade, Sally 'Im NOT French!' Mordue, Rachel 'Tease' Raines,
Darren 'Vileda' Barrat, Andy 'Bru' Sleigh, Stuart, Dave Bridge, Kerry,
